Bonsai Soil – 1 Gallon Bag “Coarse Mix”

This coarse mix allows for better drainage, and better ramification of the root system. The mix is composed of 3 equal parts: Lava rock, Stalite (Expanded Slate), Pumice with the sifted Pine Bark. We wash and sift all the stone and screen the pine bark prior to blending. This removes any fines that may cause excess water retention. The mix looks great in pots, the lava rock adds a nice red color to the mix. Stalite (expanded slate) contains the porosity, CEC, and capacity to store 6-8% moisture in the voids of the particles. We highly recommend this soil medium. It works very well for tropical bonsai trees and may other species.
